Our history and mandate.

Building

The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) is a corporate body established through the Medicines and Related Substances Act (MRSA) of 2013 which was strengthened and re-enacted in 2025. The Authority’s primary mandate is to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of medical products and cosmetics for both human and veterinary use. BoMRA was established in 2018 as statutory bodies under the Ministry of Health.
