Clinical Trials
BoMRA works closely with National Ethics Committee (HRDC-Health Research and Development Committee), Research institutes conducting clinical research and trial investigators to promote Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and adherence to Clinical Trials Regulations to protect the rights and wellbeing of Clinical trials participants (Patients). To strengthen the regulatory oversight and control of Clinical trials in Botswana, BoMRA is working on establishing systems, structures, processes, and procedures.
In 2021 BoMRA approved 10 clinical trials protocols for the conduct of Clinical trials in Botswana. The department periodically inspects and monitors the conduct of these clinical trials. BoMRA is successful in receiving grants to the tune of 5 million Pula from the European and Developing Country Clinical Trial Partnership (EDCTP) through clinical trial projects. The fund is for these projects.

Pharmacovigilance Advisory Committee (PVAC) guides the PV and CT activities of the department. PVAC is composed of members within the healthcare workers the composition of the members are physicians, epidemiologists, veterinary surgeons, community nurses and pharmacists.
