The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) wishes to alert members of the public and other stakeholders about ongoing incidents involving individuals who are falsely presenting themselves as BoMRA Inspectors
The Authority has received reports of persons impersonating BoMRA employees, claiming to be involved in the processing of applications and, in some instances, offering consultancy services to aspiring applicants seeking licenses from BoMRA. These actions are not only fraudulent but also undermine the Authority’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and public safety.
BoMRA would like to categorically state that it does not authorise any individual or third party to act on its behalf in the processing of license applications or to offer consultancy services in relation to any of its services. All official interactions concerning BoMRA services and regulatory compliance are conducted directly by BoMRA officials through established procedures.
Key identifiers of official BoMRA Inspectors:
- BoMRA Inspectors are uniformed with official corporate branding.
- Inspectors are required to present valid BoMRAissued identification cards during all site visits, inspections, or regulatory operations.
- Inspections or engagements with license applicants follow a structured and transparent process coordinated through official communication channels.
- Members of the public, especially those seeking to apply for licenses or undergoing inspections, are strongly advised to exercise vigilance and avoid engaging with anyone claiming to be a BoMRA representative without the necessary identification and formal communication.
How to verify or report suspicious activity:
If you are approached by an individual claiming to represent BoMRA and you are uncertain of their legitimacy, please do not engage further. Instead, immediately contact the Authority for verification through the following channels. Do not use any contact details provided by the supposed inspector/s
